    About the Blog Welcome to Amy’s Healthy Baking! I began blogging in 2010, mainly as a hobby and a way of encouraging myself to experiment more in the kitchen. A girl can’t live off of turkey sandwiches and baked potatoes alone! (Yes, those are two of my very first posts… I’ve come a long way with recipes and photography in 3+ years!) I initially focused on my “Alphabet Adventures.” Each week, I made a dish that started with the next letter of the alphabet, and I established the rule that it had to be either (a) something I had never attempted to cook before or (b) a recipe I created myself, if I had. By the time I reached “Z” and finished cooking my way all the way through the alphabet, I was hooked on blogging and decided to keep going! In 2013, I was extremely fortunate to switch to blogging as my full-time job. Right around then, I put cooking on the back burner and concentrated almost exclusively on developing recipes for baked goodies—my true love! I eventually decided rethink my blog’s name to reflect that passion, and in 2014, I changed from Foods for the Soul to Amy’s Healthy Baking. My high school Health Class left quite a lasting impact on my approach to food! Since I completed that required freshman course over a decade ago, I’ve focused on creating healthier dishes—and sweet treats—that I can eat on a regular basis without feeling guilty, greasy, or gross. Don’t get me wrong—I still love chocolate donuts with rainbow sprinkles, saucy thick-crusted pizzas, and beer-battered french fries! But I treat those as occasional indulgences instead of my daily dishes. On my blog, I publish almost exclusively low-fat (or ”skinny”) recipes, with a growing number of clean eating, vegan, and gluten-free options. I believe we can make healthier options taste just as delicious as their indulgent counterparts. Just look at these oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies, dark chocolate cupcakes, and fudgy brownies! Meet Amy! | amyshealthybaking.com About Amy I’m a California girl, born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco by two loving, patient, and incredibly supportive parents. I have one brother, the sweetest and smartest sibling I could ever ask for. (I always turn to him and his computer-savvy skills when I run into a problem!) I live with my wonderful guy, who always dashes out to the store for missing ingredients during my late-night baking sessions, and our adorable mixed Chihuahua pup. I studied Organic Chemistry at UC Davis and planned on a lifetime career in the Pharmaceutical Industry. But one day while standing in front of a glass beaker, buttoned up in a long white lab coat, bright purple nitrile gloves, and safety glasses, I realized that I much preferred experimenting with edible “reactions” in my kitchen at home. That “Aha!” moment motivated me to make blogging my full-time job instead, and here I am! When I’m not baking or scrubbing mountains of dishes, I love running (it counteracts all of the sweet treat recipe testing and keeps me sane!), yoga, meditation, and kettlebells. Althogh not necessarily together. I’m a huge sports fanatic, and I almost always turn on the TV to watch a game—yes, even over the Food Network! I inherited that passion from my dad, especially for baseball, and we’re working on going to all 30 MLB stadiums together. So far, we’re up to 22!
