Hi! I’m Allie, and when I find myself with a few free moments, I head straight for my kitchen! I love to bake, and I especially love pastry and desserts. After I drop my kids off at school, and all the housework and errands are done, you can find me puttering in my sunny kitchen. It’s my happy place! I really like to take my time and enjoy the process. I’m always amazed at how just a few simple ingredients, when combined with a little science and artistry, can make something truly magical! And the joy that it brings to my loved ones makes it so rewarding. After a few short hours, the kids and husband come home, and my life returns to that happy hustle-bustle of a family with two small boys, but those quiet moments in the kitchen are often an oasis in my busy day. My inspiration comes from all sorts of places, but most of the recipes I share here are original. Many times, I’ll use a classic recipe as a starting point, and then give it a little twist to make it my own. I’ll always credit and link back to recipes I have adapted. I worked my way through college (where I studied Fine Art and Architecture) at various jobs in professional kitchens. It was while working as a Pastry Chef at a catering company that I really discovered my passion for baking. After working as an Architectural Designer/Project Manager for close to ten years, my husband and I started our family. In 2011, not long after my second son was born, my sister introduced me to the world of blogging. I co-authored a blog with her, for nearly two years, before branching off to start Baking a Moment on my own. Some of my recipes are perfect for beginners, but many are more suited for the more experienced baker.
