    BayArea.com was born deep in the sterile entrails of a San Jose office building and, as a youth, wasted no time in running away from home. Now, after long years spent lost and drifting between the backwaters of the world, it finds itself in the San Francisco Bay Area once more. It doesn’t know what it wants to be when it grows up, but it’s having loads of fun while it figures itself out. It’s labored in the sun and trained its brain in college libraries. It’s baked birthday brownies for senior citizens and pre-hike hash brownies for its friends. It’s babysat little siblings on Friday evenings and spent long Saturday nights gyrating on sticky dancefloors. It’s eaten in fancy restaurants and worked in greasy diners. Most of its sentences feature a hella or two, and it speaks a Spanish thick with güeyes. It can tell your pinot grigio from a pinot gris, but is just as happy suckling Franzia from a bag. It’s as excited and awestruck as the tech-boom blow-in and wise as the lifelong local. It knows that, if you know where to look, you can have just as much fun in Walnut Creek as you can in the Mission. And it knows that while you’re working to make the world a friendlier place or riding on the cusp of the next big thing, you still need to know how to have fun. This is a place to teach ourselves about ourselves, and create a community that shares ideas, festivals, bars, eats, apps and things to do.
