Journalist, photographer and blogger, I have a soft spot for the lesser visited corners of the world. After almost ten years of expat and semi-nomadic life, I came back to my homeland, Italy, to settle in Rome and make it my base for future travels.
What I like the most when I travel is to dig deep into other countries’ culture, traditions, social customs and explore them in all their idiosyncrasies. I’ve always tried to avoid filling my posts with the basic information available by performing a simple Google search, and striven to publish more personal impressions instead.
The articles I publish here stem from my travels (first and foremost!), a thorough research, and my very personal feelings about places and people. I want my readers to see, hear, smell, sense the countries I visit, I want them to feel out there are real people, real traditions, real emotions that, in the end, are not very different from the ones we have at home.
My goal, as a travel writer, is to make readers feel less far from any foreign country, less scared of and more embracing towards the “different”. This is why, when I was asked to integrate geography classes with my own travel experiences at a high school in Sardinia, I took it as a great opportunity to make it easier for 13-year-old students to understand that “different” doesn’t mean “wrong”, and possibly leaving them with a bit of my wanderlust.
I naturally like wandering off the beaten path, but I believe also the most travelled roads have something new to say, and a journey through well tackled destinations can be as inspiring and fascinating as the more unconventional trails. I like to spot the beauty of every place, the unusual angles, local flavors and hidden traditions, and while I will always emphasise the best aspects of every country, I won’t shy away from speaking the truth about my own experiences, good or bad, like when I got mugged in Fortaleza, the places I didn’t fall in love with, or the poverty I’ve witnessed and the dangers of irresponsible tourism.

- Key DifferentiatorWhy advertise on Chasing The Unexpected? I have launched Chasing The Unexpected a year and a half ago after blogging for two years on another platform. During all these past months my readership has been increasing and becoming more engaged by the day, with comments, private emails and via social media. My posts report my personal travel experience, and the research behind them stems always from my direct contact with the people, cultures and traditions of the countries I visit. I don’t recycle information and I don’t write about locations I haven’t been to. I love traveling, and my posts inevitably reflect this. I’m curious and enjoy exploring cities, countries, societies beyond the surface, reaching their intimate soul. My perpetual quest for the unexpected is what my readers like and expect from this site, and why they enjoy following me in my personal journey. Here are some figures about my site (I will update them regularly): Google Page Rank: 3 Stats by Attracta: Number of visits (month of October 2013) 31,198; Page views (October) 88,838; Unique visitors (October) 12,444 Alexa Rank: Global 156,842; Italy 4,735 Facebook Page: 4,623 followers Twitter @angelacorrias: 4,320 followers Google Plus: 2,041 followers Instagram: 282 followers RSS and E-mail subscription: over 400 PR and press trips I am willing to consider press/sponsored trips.
