About

City Journal is the nation’s premier urban-policy magazine, “the Bible of the new urbanism,” as London’s Daily Telegraph puts it. During the Giuliani Administration, the magazine served as an idea factory as the then-mayor revivified New York City, quickly becoming, in the words of the New York Post, “the place where Rudy gets his ideas.” The Public Interest went further, calling City Journal “the magazine that saved the city.”
But City Journal is a national, not just a local, force, with a readership that spans the U.S. The country’s most thoughtful journalists are among the quarterly magazine’s subscribers, as are top businessmen and financiers. Public officials from coast to coast look to the magazine as a regular source of policy guidance. Leading newspapers, from the Wall Street Journal to the Los Angeles Times, regularly print adaptations of City Journal articles, disseminating the magazine’s influence to millions of readers.
City Journal offers a stimulating mix of hard-headed practicality and cutting-edge theory, with articles on everything from school financing, policing strategy, and welfare policy to urban architecture, family policy, and the latest theorizing emanating from the law schools, the charitable foundations, even the schools of public health. Since urban policy encompasses almost all domestic policy questions, as well as the largest issues of our culture and society, the magazine views its canvas as very broad indeed. The magazine holds itself to the highest intellectual, journalistic, and literary standards, aiming to produce absorbing reading for intelligent and discerning readers.

Perfect on an iPad Pro

You know whether you agree with its politics, I'm here to tell you that, finally, this beautiful magazine looks and works as it should on an iPad: the Pro. The iPad Pro is supposed to be good for artists and multi-app productivity types, and I'm sure it is, but I wanted one to read newspapers and magazines at a more natural size. City Journal is the best example of this strategy. No more pinching and zooming; just reading. It does something called "streamIng", too. Who cares.

Great mag, lousy app.

I love the City Journal magazine, which I usually read online. But this Newstand "app" just immediately crashes when I try to open it on my iPad mini with system 6.0.2.

Beautiful magazine, clunky app

City Journal is an elegant paper magazine; what a pity it's such a clunky app. It feels like a collection of photographs of the pages of a large magazine, shrunk down to fit the iPad screen. Text winds up at something like 6 points; retina readable, but tiresome. Unless you like reading footnotes, you must enlarge each photo and push it around the screen in order to read the text. The multicolumn layout adds another frustration to this exercise, but it's doable, and doubtless saves a bunch of money for a small magazine. Even so, the resulting irritation is hardly justified by the fleeting pleasure of admiring a well-designed paper page shrunk down to near-unreadability on an iPad screen. The New Yorker has this same Big Pile O' JPEGs problem, but at least they give you a single-column layout that scrolls nicely.

Fabulous way to read City Journal

Now one of my favorite journal's is available on the iPad -- the beauty of the magazine comes through and the format lends itself well to the iPad. Bravo!
Accelerate Framework
This document describes the Accelerate framework, which contains C APIs for vector and matrix math, digital signal processing, large number handling, and image processing.
Accounts Framework
The Accounts framework provides access to user accounts stored in the Accounts database. An account stores the login credentials of a particular service, such as Twitter, that can be used as authentication for the service. By implementing the Accounts framework into your app, you do not need to be responsible for storing account logins yourself. Instead, the user can grant access for your app to use their account login credentials, bypassing the need to type their username and password. If no account for a particular service exists in the user’s Accounts database, you can let them create and save an account from within your app.
Adjust
This is the iOS SDK of Adjust. You can read more about it at http://adjust.io.
Admob
AdMob has been rebuilt, leveraging the best of Google's ad platforms. It's designed for app developers, with an intuitive UI to help you start earning from your app quickly, create campaigns in minutes to acquire new users, and gain insights into your app's performance.
AdSupport
The Ad Support framework provides apps with access to an identifier that can be used only for serving advertisements, as well as a flag which indicates whether a user has limited ad tracking. Accessing the advertising identifier requires apps to read and honor the opt-out flag.
Assets Library Framework
In iOS and OS X, the Photos framework (formerly known as Assets Library framework) provides classes that support building photo editing extensions for the Photos app. In iOS, the Photos framework also provides direct access to the photo and video assets managed by the Photos app, including the iCloud Photo Library. Use this framework to retrieve assets for display and playback, edit their image or video content, or work with collections of assets such as albums, moments, and iCloud Shared Albums.
AudioToolbox
The Audio Toolbox framework provides interfaces for recording, playback, and stream parsing. In iOS, the framework provides additional interfaces for managing audio sessions.
AVFoundation
The AV Foundation framework provides an Objective-C interface for managing and playing audio-visual media in iOS and OS X applications.
AVKit
