Through its affiliation with CBS, WOIO is home to NCAA College Football, NCAA College Basketball including the "March Madness" Basketball Tournament, several premiere golf events including The Masters, and Tennis' U.S. Open.

WOIO's Sign-On Date was May 19, 1985. In 1986, Malrite Communications Group gained majority ownership of the station, which it maintained until September 1998 when Raycom Media purchased the station.
