The idea of overclocking was and still is very appealing to me. Back in 2003, I decided to join thousands of other computer enthusiasts who succeeded in overclocking the AMD processors. That was my very first PC build attempt. Who wouldn't want to achieve a higher performance by spending as little as possible?

So I did, and sure enough it backfired! As a result I lost my shiny GeForce4 Ti, motherboard, 1 stick of RAM and, of course, my power supply. Please note that the AMD's Athlon XP had survived!

So what happened? The culprit of the problem was my cheap and underpowered PSU. It wasn’t powerful enough to withstand the load. Furthermore, it didn’t have any power protection so it blew up after a few minutes of running the 3DMark
