Hello and welcome! I’m Marie and I started this blog a few years ago because I wanted to share my favorite pizza dough recipe with the world. I had searched and searched and finally found something that produced better results than most pizzeria pizzas. One of my absolute favorite ways to spend a lazy afternoon is in the kitchen. I love to bake, mostly breads and, of course, pizzas:) This Tartine bread is like heaven on a plate! I’m a first-generation Italian American, born to parents who are from the Campania region of Italy, near Naples, home of the Pizza Margarita and desserts such as sfogliatelle. Oh the food! I have many fond memories that revolve around food. My father loved to bake pies from scratch (often apple) and he often made a large pot of spaghetti and crabs in the late summer… He also loved to make breakfast. I can vividly recall the “hot cakes” as he called them (ie, pancakes) or the silver dollar pancakes when he made them smaller, just for me, in the cast iron skillet and the fresh grapefruit that he would carefully carve out and sprinkle with sugar. My mother, on the other hand, is mostly about baking. Her specialties include Italian Rum Cake, cannoli, and sfogliatelle. She also takes great pride in other favorites like home made pasta, home made spaghetti sauce (we call it “gravy”), gnocchi, and Italian bread. Other things that I will always remember about her baking include her Easter pie and struffoli.
