Welcome to my red door life, you may want to subscribe to my RSS Feed via Email so you never miss a post. Thanks for visiting and hope to see you again soon! Hello! I’m Felicia and I call this little spot of the blogging world home. So glad you could make it. Come on in, pull your shoes off, go ahead and settle on down into my big comfy couch and I’ll tell you all about me. Let’s see where should I start? How about what drives me as a person. I know it is all straight to business but that is why you are here, right? I wear a lot of name tags in this life of mine. I am a daughter, sister, gran-daughter, wife and mother just to start with. I am first and foremost though an undeserving but eternally grateful child to my Heavenly Father. My faith in God and his abounding mercy, love and grace is what keeps me going in this life. I wasn’t always this close to God but over the past few years the relationship I have with him has grown by leaps and bounds. I love to share the millions of different ways he touches my day to day life and the insights I glean from his word. Then there is my family. I have been married to my best friend, lover, killer of wasp and spiders, Mike, for 7 years now. I am so lucky to have such an amazing man to call my husband. Even if he does sound like the alien from Predator when he snores. I have two gorgeous girls. Kyla, my drama queen is the oldest and the one who is more apt to push my buttons now days as she grows more into her personality. She’s currently 11 going on 18. Fun times! I jest (sort of), she really is the light of my life and was my rock when things weren’t so good years ago. Then there is Hayley. Sweet, full of energy, never know what she is going to say next, Hayley. She fills my day with wonder and laughter and I couldn’t imagine a better candidate for being the last child I shall ever have. Our family is rounded out by my sweet dog Foxie. Home sweet home. I was born in Texas but have lived most of my 31 years in Louisiana. Here are some questions frequently asked when people find out where I live. Do you all speak Cajun? No, in fact most people speak English, although we do have heavy accents. The further south you go the worse it gets. Most of the Cajun speaking folks live below I-10. Fun fact: People in LA can tell you what part of LA you are from after listening to you talk for just a few minutes, the accents are that diverse. Do we all live in the swamps? Again no. There are lots of swamps, even in the northern part of the state but we don’t all live in them. A lot of us however do like to go mudding in them. Do we wrestle alligators? Again no, well not all of us. I am sure you have seen Swamp People but that’s not just overly crazy people wrestling gators. That’s men/women making a living. Do people really raise their trailers(mobile homes) off the ground? Actually yes we do. Louisiana has a lot of flat lands and there are lots of rivers, lakes and other bodies of water that flood. To keep from losing homes and insurance we are required by law to raise trailers so far off the ground (usually around 5 feet) in designated flood zones. And my favorite question, do you know the Duck Dynasty people? hile I don’t know them personally we do live close to them. A lot of people around us do know them and I have seen them from afar. The beards are real, as is the love of God, family and all things redneck. If you have any other questions regarding my awesome state let me know! Some Random Tidbits You want more? See I knew we were going to hit it off. Well here you go, random bits about me. I am a full time stay at home mother and love every minute of it. I love the written word, there is rarely a book that I find that I don’t at least enjoy a small bit. I am a huge Doctor Who fan. Like total geekdom here. I am terrified , like burn the house down terrified, of spiders. I hate feet I also hate the full body Easter Bunny costume people. They give me the shivers. I love to have my nails done but can’t afford to spend that kind of money weekly and have learned to do my nails myself. I can’t sleep without the fan on no matter what time of year it is. I love to cook and love anything to do with cooking. I am DIY selfer at heart with a frugal persons budget. I am firmly against GMO’s and any company supporting the use of them. I also can not stand Monsanto, GMO’s aside. They are a huge corrupt company that should be legally destroyed. I am addicted to Facebook I don’t have any tattoo’s and only one set of holes in my ears I love horrible B rated horror movies I am also a sucker for good heart wrenching feel good movies like Under The Tuscan Sun I tend ramble a lot (duh huh?) So why do I blog? Blogging for me is a journey. I first started this blog as a way to get back in touch with whoI am and to figure out what God wanted out of me in life. Now it’s a way for me to share his love in the day to day moments. As far as niches go I fall into the personal lifestyle blogger. I love to talk about it all (remember I like to ramble), bible studies, cooking, crafting, diy, home making, life, living, and so much more. I post weekly to do list, menu plans, things you should read, and a ton of other things. Really to much to list here. I hope you enjoy your time behind my Red Door and the small peak in my life it brings. Where do you go from here? Here a few of my more popular posts for you to browse.
