Hi my name is Danielle and I am the 28 year old mother of 1 very handsome 5 year old little boy (I’d call him cute but he told me cute was for girls). I served in the United States Coast Guard from 2006-2011 those were some of the most exciting times of my life. I loved the ability to travel around the world and even here in this country exploring new places and meeting new people. I especially loved the ability to show my son different places. We still have the urge to move now that we are back in my home state of Oklahoma. I got out of the Coast Guard toward the end of 2011 when I was told to choose the military of being a mom (of course I chose my son). So we packed up and headed back here to the home of my childhood. We settled in nicely I got a job as an analyst for the government bought a house and finished my degrees ( B.S in Education and a B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting). Things from the outside looking in seemed wonderful but I was fighting a battle within struggling with the transitions that had come my way from in that last year a divorce, a move from California to Washington to Oklahoma all in less than a year. I found myself growing increasingly tired, irritable and battling one illness after another because of stress and an unhealthy lifestyle. I should have been happy to be back home and starting this new chapter in my life but I looked in the mirror and I didn’t even recognize the woman that was standing in front of me ( you can read about that here). Fast forward to today. I finally said to myself enough is enough I have to make changes in my life I have to regain my health, my body and my energy. I started to make positive changes in the right direction one of which was the decision to change careers from being confined to a small cubicle in a toxic and negative environment (which sucked the very life out me). So I will be heading back to college as I have been accepted to a 2nd degree accelerated Bachelors of Nursing program here in Oklahoma (I start in August 2013). Getting into the field of nursing led me to look at my lifestyle because if I am going to promote healthy habits and lifestyles then I have to live them, who wants to listen to an unhealthy nurse? The second thing I did was examine what I was putting in my body and what had gotten me to the point that I was at 5’4 and 156lbs. Since genetics played apart in my height I knew I couldn’t do anything to get taller but I sure could avoid getting any wider. So began my weight loss journey and the birth of Motivating Mommy (now Fitness Fashionista). Fitness Fashionitsa isn’t only here to motivate me to keep going and stick with but its here for all the people out there that just need to know there are others out there going through the same struggles they are going through. Its never to late to make a positive change in the right direction and any day in the year can be the start of your new year, you don’t have to wait til New Years to make your resolutions. I hope that my struggles and accomplishments can inspire and motivate you to take that first step. This is a blog about support and understanding and I am always here to help and encourage you along the way.
