Publisher: Gidget Goes Home — finding contentment in daily life
  • Key Differentiator
Welcome! Hi, I’m Nicole (or as my pen name on this blog refers, Gidget)– a stay-at-home mom, who wears a lot of hats. In fact, I’ve always thought of myself as having many different personas. Which makes sense, because it turns out I’m an ENFP — I’ve got lots of passions, I’m a great starter/dreamer and I’m not very good at follow-through (I’ll be working on this in 2014 with my one word PERSEVERANCE). I’m a renaissance soul seeking out a life of contentment, creativity and community. Writing, reading, sewing and enjoying being a family chef (and homemade ice cream aficionado) are just a few of my passions. I love documenting life (I use a Nikon D60 & fab 35mm prime lens or my iPhone 4s), and I loving being a California girl. I’m always looking for ways of living out intentional community and hoping to find more and more contentment in the gospel with every day I’m blessed to be on this earth. Most of my days are spent raising my kids (2 girls and a boy) and homeschooling my oldest daughter in first grade. My husband, David, and I met in college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (at a concert) and were married two weeks after I graduated with a B.A. in Modern Languages and Literature. I also have a Master’s in Spanish, and taught at Cal State Long Beach before my daughter was born. It’s safe to say I’m an avid reader (and I rarely dig into just one book at a time) and I’m a total grammar and language nerd. Need an online Spanish tutor? I can help with that. Perfect birthday getaway!! In the last ten years, our family has grown to include our clever and strong daughter, Gigi (born May 2007), the sweetest little guy Brody (April 2010), who joined our family via adoption, and Hallee, our spunky little one (June 2011). They keep me on my toes to be sure (let’s be honest, some days are downright hard), but I love them with all my heart. Our family is fun and active… we love baseball (we bleed Dodger blue), the beach, traveling, camping and spending time with our extended family and friends, and we love our local Acts 29 church, where we lead a small group. In 2009, we took a three week road trip to go to twelve MLB baseball games, and as of now, we’ve been to twenty of the thirty ballparks, with our oldest daughter. A few more random facts: I learned to sew as a young girl, and still enjoy to do that whenever I can, along with embroidery, and the occasional needlecraft or paper craft. I’m a somewhat-paleo/real-food eater (because, um, hello, ice cream!). And when it’s warm and sunny, you can hopefully find me at the beach– I’ve been surfing off an on for the last fifteen years or so and it’s still one of my favorite summer pastimes. You can read more about my blog here. Where else I Write I’m the former editor of Simple Homemade, and I’m a monthly contributor to the Art of Simple. I try to keep track of guests posts I write here. Recently, I published my first eBook, called Sewing School: Simple Tips to Get You Stitching. It’s a friendly guide to walk you through learning how to sew.
