Gooseberry Patch was founded in 1984 by Vickie Hutchins and Jo Ann Martin, two moms looking for a way to do what they loved and stay home with kids too. 30 years later, we're best known for our collection of family-friendly, community-style cookbooks. Each book is created with today's time-strapped, budget-conscious families in mind and filled with recipes shared by cooks all across the country. Along with treasured family recipes, each book includes the stories the go along with these tried & true dishes.
With more than 200 titles and nearly 9 million copies in print, plus an ever-growing collection of eBooks, Gooseberry Patch has grown from a kitchen-table operation to a nationally recognized best-selling publisher.
In addition to our nationally bestselling cookbooks, we've expanded Gooseberry Patch to include a very special email magazine, delivered one page at a time. It's filled with handpicked recipes, inspiration and products, just like the ones found in our original mail-order catalog.

We had always shared a love of home cooking and making memories with family & friends and so, after many a conversation over the backyard fence, Gooseberry Patch was born. We put together our first catalog at our kitchen tables and from that very first mailing, we found an immediate connection with our customers. It wasn’t long before we began receiving letters, photos and recipes from these new friends. In 1992, we published our very first cookbook, compiled from hundreds of these recipes and, the rest, as they say, is history. In addition to our nationally bestselling cookbooks, we've expanded Gooseberry Patch to include a very special email magazine, delivered one page at a time.
