HBCU Lifestyle was created to add value to the HBCU community by contributing relevant and thoughtful content that will help preserve the HBCU tradition. It is our primary intent to empower current and future generations of HBCU students and their families with valuable advice on college admissions, campus life & financial aid resources.

In addition to supporting students, we will connect, collaborate and fellowship with advocates, alumni, fans, and friends to collectively keep the dream alive.

HBCUs are just as relevant today, as when the first HBCU opened it’s doors over 100 years ago. The HBCU experience is a privilege that has been passed down for generations, and we must continue honor the legacy that has been passed down to us.

The Founders HBCU Lifestyle is led by Richard and Garrick Gibson, a father and son team with a passion for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). They are both proud graduates of Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL. Keeping the tradition alive, the third-generation son is currently attending FAMU with an anticipated graduation date of 2016. Richard and Garrick are both married to loving and supportive women who both attended Tuskegee University in Alabama. About Richard Richard Gibson, Jr., Co-Founder at HBCU LifestyleRichard is an alumnus of Florida A&M University with a degree in Business Administration. His background includes tenure as an entrepreneur in catering, wholesale apparel distribution and an online business. Other ventures include time spent as a food service manager and as a public administrator. His hobbies include gardening, reading and writing non-fiction short stories. About Garrick Garrick Gibson, Co-Founder at HBCU LifestyleGarrick is an alumnus of Florida A&M University with a degree in graphic design, journalism and print management. He currently works as an information designer in Jacksonville, Florida. He has a passion for design and personal development. Garrick’s personal interests include running, blogging, technology, marketing, communications, personal development, wellness and entrepreneurism. Why HBCU Lifestyle?
