    First, let me say, thank you for being here! This blog is a special place to me. What do you want to know about me? I hardly know what to share, so I’ll just write a list of things that you might find interesting. 1) I am a mom to a funny and strong-willed two-year-old girl. I love being mom to a little girl, and I LOVE that she likes to wear dresses, dance, and sing along to any song she knows {or just make up her own song}. She couldn’t be more perfect to her father and I, and we simply adore her. Most evenings end with a recap of all the funny things she did or said that day. 2) I am married to my high-school sweetheart. We started dating when we were Sophomores in high-school. To say that I feel lucky to be married to a man who loves me unconditionally, supports me no matter what I decide I want to do, and is just a straight-up great guy, would be an understatement. I’m a lucky girl to be married to him! (Oh! And he’s a great father too!) 3) I want to open my own photography business. This is a dream that I would say I’m currently working towards! Taking photographs is like therapy to me. It is rare that a day goes by where I don’t pick up my camera and take pictures of something. Whether it be a project for this blog, a snapshot of Miss L, or some family photos for friends, I’m always snapping pictures and learning as much as I can about photography in general! 4) I am a reading teacher. Yes. On top of being a mom, wife, blogger, and photographer, I have a day job. Phew! I began teaching 5th grade right out of collage. I taught 5th grade in a suburb of Indianapolis for 6.5 years, until I had Miss L. I stayed at home with her for almost two years, then returned to work in a new district as a Title 1 Reading Teacher. This means that I get to teach literacy [which I love to teach] to small groups of K-5 students. I love my job and the people I work with. I feel very lucky. 5) I am a Type-1 Diabetic. This is something that I haven’t really talked about on m blog, but there it is. Some days my diabetes seems like a non-factor, and other days it makes me want to cry. It’s definitely a frustrating disease, but I was diagnosed at age 11, so I’m pretty used to it. It is what it is, and I do my best to take good care of myself. 6) Trading Spaces was a game-changer for me. C’mon, you KNOW you remember that TLC show, Trading Spaces!!! When that show came out, I never missed an episode. I was in complete awe of the way the show’s designers could completely transform a room in 2 days. That show rocked my world, and is 100% responsible for getting me interested in home decorating on a budget! 7) I LOVE to shop garage sales! It is my favorite thing to do in the summertime, and I love the thrill of the chase! I even have a garage-sale song that I sing to my daughter when I have to get to take her along with me! {Taking a 2-year-old to a garage sale can be a recipe for disaster…} 8) I watch reality tv shows….and love every minute of them. Real Housewives of every city, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Project Runway, Dancing With the Stars, and Amazing Race to name just a few. Really, anything on BRAVO is pretty fair game. I usually have them on in the background while I blog at night. 9) I dress and decorate with a lot of the same colors. Do you do that? No matter the season, you’ll always find pops of turquoise and yellow in my house. I also really dig navy. And pink. I also wear these colors a lot. Coincidence? I doubt it. 10) I find that being a blogger is a weird {and wonderful} paradox. {If you are a fellow-blogger, then you’re probably nodding your head with me.} Some people in my “real-life” know nothing about my blog, and I feel weird bringing it up or talking about it, so I don’t. Others in my “real-life” know about my blog, but don’t really read it or get it. And that’s fine with me! ;) It really is! Not everybody is going to understand the “blog thing”. Then there are the people in my “real-life” know about my blog, love it, and support my endeavor to maintain and grow my blog to be the best darn House by Hoff blog it can be. And last, there are the readers of my blog, whom I may never get to meet, but who support me by visiting, reading, commenting, and maybe even laughing along with me on this crazy journey! It is these last two groups of people who I truly appreciate more than I could ever really say.
