KATC went on the air in the fall of 1962 as an affiliate of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), and celebrated its fortieth anniversary in 2002.

Each week, more than 377,000 people tune into KATC-TV3 for local and national news, talk/variety and game shows, soap operas, information and entertainment, sports, movies, children’s, and public affairs programming. KATC-TV-3 is carried on cable systems throughout Southwest Louisiana to viewers in Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes.

StormTeam3’s Power Doppler 3000, the most powerful radar on the Gulf Coast, helps keep Acadiana families safe from severe weather. Providing live, real time, information from storm systems it scans the horizon from a 14-foot satellite dish towering over 75-feet in the air and instantly reports back to the StormTeam3 Weather Lab.
