    Hello and thanks so much for taking the time to visit. Kimsunee.com was originally established as a home base when I was finishing my first book, a memoir called “Trail of Crumbs,” about my time living and eating in France while searching for a place to call home. I was working full time as a food editor at Southern Living and then for the launch of Cottage Living magazine. This site continues to evolve and is mainly a place to celebrate the food, places and people from my travels. I love words and writing books (even though there are many days when I just stare at a blank page or screen and wonder when/if the muse will ever come). When I’ve waited long enough, I get up and head to the kitchen and work on developing and testing new recipes. And, although I am not a professional photographer, I love it (instagram as well as shooting with a new Canon Macro lens I’m learning to love and use more and more every day). A bit about me: I was born in South Korea and adopted at the approximate age of 3. Not knowing my actual date of birth seems to have an advantage as I get older, but not knowing lots of facts about oneself–name of parents, city of birth, first words–leads to lots of searching. For me, the search manifests itself in a continuous hunger for travel and food to make me (as well as others) feel at home in the world. If you ask my family and friends, they might say that my main talent is that of “food pusher.” Admittedly, I am a feeder (probably the result of growing up in a food-obsessed city like New Orleans) and often find myself cooking for at least 8 people–even if it’s just my husband and stepson at the table. Inevitably, word gets out that I’ve made jambalaya or fried chicken or grilled pizzas and ice cream, and friends and neighbors show up for a meal and to share their day with us. This is when I’m happiest…or when the muse finally graces me with a word or two…. Please see below for a more complete bio. Kim Sunée was born in South Korea, adopted, and raised in the Southern U.S. She is the author of the national bestseller, “Trail of Crumbs: Hunger, Love, and the Search for Home” (Grand Central Publishing). “Trail of Crumbs” was both a Barnes & Noble Discover pick and a Book Sense Pick, and has been translated into Korean, Chinese, and Hebrew. Her new book, “A Mouthful of Stars” was published in May 2014 by Andrews McMeel. She has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Ladies’ Homes Journal, People, ELLE, and Glamour. She ate and lived in Europe–mostly France–for ten years before working as a food editor for Southern Living magazine and Cottage Living magazine. Her writing has appeared in Food & Wine, The Oxford American, Cooking Light, and Asian American Poetry and Writing. Sunée has appeared several times as a guest judge on the Food Network’s Iron Chef America and has collaborated on several cookbooks, including The Tuscan Sun Cookbook by Frances and Ed Mayes, and the Tupelo Honey Cafe by Elizabeth Sims and Chef Brian Sonoskus. She is currently a food columnist for Alaska Dispatch and freelances as a recipe tester, editor, and food stylist.
