hanks for stopping by my blog! Why is it called lifeshouldcostless.com you may ask? Frankly, that is because gettingmycraptogetherandsavingmoneywhiledoingso.com is a little too long ;). That’s really what this site is. It keeps me motivated to get stuff done and share easier/cheaper ways of what I do. I hope that you like what you find so that you will become a regular reader (hint, hint, SUBSCRIBE). I think that sharing some of my favorite quotes will give you a glimpse into what I’m all about and am striving to become: Life should be enjoyed, not just endured. He who buys what he does not need steals from himself. Less house, more home. A negative mind will NEVER give you a positive life. It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it. Breathe. Step Back. Think. Then React. Strive for progress, not perfection. To be happy is a choice we make. Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate. A fool and his money are soon to part. Let go or be dragged. I am a recovering pessimist and perfectionist. It took losing someone very dear to me to make me wake up and realize that I needed to enjoy the day to day, not just “get through it”. I grew up in Hurricane, Utah on a gravel (mostly dirt) road. Have three brothers and one sister. I married my husband in 2005. We live in Northern Utah and have four kids and I am lucky enough to be home with them. Luck wasn’t all of it, We both worked our tails off, got debt under control, and cut back so that I can be at home with the kids and it has been wonderful being home with them. To read our story about making it possible to live on one income, go here. Our marriage hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it to keep going and grow more in love with each other. I started this blog within two weeks of being an at-home-mom (July 2011). I needed something to not only keep me busy/sane, but to give me some sort of creative outlet. I hope to get all of my favorite recipes posted so that I can access them from anywhere, but I don’t mind sharing them. I also have another website that launched June 2015, make sure to check it out too!I don’t want people to come to my site and then leave feeling like they don’t measure up (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve visited a blog and leave feeling inadequate). Just so you know, realistically, when a mommy blogger spends the day working on a blog post…the kids usually have spent a good amount of time in front of the tv that day and the house is totally trashed. I know that that you may see a picture that looks just gorgeous, but just remember that right beyond that view-able shot is a sink piled high with dishes and several laundry baskets that need attention. This is why I don’t write super often, because it’s not fair to the kids if I’m ignoring them all day or yelling at them because they got in the shot or ate something before I was able to shoot pictures. My current frequency of posting is every 5-7 days or so. I will definitely increase the frequency in a few years when all of my kids are in school. Until then, just know that I’m doing the best that I can to offer you original content and trying not to burn out from being overwhelmed. Anyway, these are typically the kinds of things you can expect to find on this blog. Less expensive/easier ways of doing things. Both healthy and tasty recipes. I believe in whole grains, healthy fats, and dye-free, so I do share my personal recipes and a few family ones too. Basic Emergency Preparedness. Because we can’t do the big stuff ’til all the small stuff is taken care of. Food Storage tips. I like to store everything in sealed mason jars. Organization tips. Ways we make our house a home. Financial responsibility. I also like to sneak things in that I think are just plain interesting… Make sure that if you love a post you remember to pin or share it (or both), the more traffic I see the more it encourages me to keep going… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been discouraged and nearly quit… Anyway, I hope you enjoy what you read.
