It maintains very close ties with the UK Government and the general public through its connections with media partners and its role in natural disaster contingency. The Met Office has over 60 locations throughout the world and connection with the wider family of National Weather Services so that global coverage of weather and climate elements can be maintained 24/7. The Met Office is part of the Department for Business, Innovation and Science, operating with strong business ethos. It is recognised as one of the world’s most accurate forecasters, using over 10 million weather observations a day, an advanced atmospheric model and a high performance supercomputer to create 3,000 tailored forecasts and briefings a day.
