The short story behind OpenSourceCMS.com is that in 2002 Scott Goodwin (the original founder of the site) needed a content management system for a project he was involved in. After spending hours searching for, then installing, CMS after CMS looking for the perfect one for his needs, he came to the conclusion there must be a better way. He envisioned a site where one could test out the many available CMS's without having to install them on their hosting account first. To Scotts surprise, the opensourcecms.com domain name was available so he purchased it. The first version of OpenSourceCMS.com ran on PHP-Nuke and had 3 or 4 demos. Scott would re-install the demos every few days manually so others could enjoy a clean installation. Through the many emails he received he soon realized that a hosting company that focused exclusively on providing services for open source CMS's could be a viable business. Scott then went ahead and created OpenSourceHost.com, which he sold successfully in 2007. Scott managed to find a great team to support him over the time, some of which are mentioned below and a big thanks goes to them for their long support of the site. In 2011, almost 5 years after selling OpenSourceHost Scott, now not involved with Open Source CMS technologies in his daily life anymore started looking for a suitable entity to take over the site and continue its legacy to the community of Open Source CMS enthusiasts. AOE, one of Europe's leading Open Source web consultancies and long-term sponsor and partner of the site was the company that ended up acquiring the site with the committment and dedication to build it out to the number one vendor-independant resource for Open Source CMS on the web.
