    I’m a retired ASE Master Auto Technician. I currently write a monthly auto repair column for The Family Handyman magazine. Each month, 1.2 million readers get up-to-date auto repair information from my column. I stay current on the latest auto repair issues. But, since five different auto technicians can give you ten different opinions about any auto repair, consider this entire blog as simply my opinion. Always go with the advice of your trusted auto mechanic. If you would like to ask a car-related question, click on the Contact tab and enter the make, model, year, and engine size, along with your question. If you leave out that information, don’t be surprised that you don’t get an answer. Be as specific as possible. If your engine cranks over when you turn the key but won’t start, tell me it “cranks but won’t fire.” Stating that you vehicle “doesn’t start” will get you nowhere with me. If you’ve already tried to fix the issue, tell me what you’ve done so far–same with any tests you’ve conducted. I will try to answer your question within a few days. I never ask for a contribution in return for my advice, like some other “free” advice sites. I also never hide the answers unless you pay some fee. But I do have advertising on my site to cover the expenses. So take the free information, but don’t write to me and complain that I have advertising. Here’s one final disclaimer: The tools I show on my site are available at Amazon.com. And yes, I do make a commission on those sales. Again, it helps pay for the site. But you should know that I don’t post crummy tools just to lure you in. Unless noted otherwise, I OWN and USE the tools I post on the site. That means I LIKE them and think you will too.
