I'm Gary Harmon ...this is about me and a life changing experience with cancer that I'd like to share with you.
The year was 1990; my wife and I had been married for just one year and we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl.
I had a new job working for my brother at Emmanuel Stained Glass studio in Nashville, TN.
It was just a matter of months later that I was told I was at stage 4 head and neck cancer and it had spread inside to my throat.
The medical term for the exact type of cancer I had was squamous cell carcinoma which you may know is a type of skin cancer.
I used an alternative healthy approach to healing along with the entire spectrum of conventional medicine which consisted of chemotherapy, major surgery and radiation.
Fortunately I came out “cancer free” and I have survived now since 1990.
After my recovery from the treatments I went on working as a stained glass painter for my brother for almost 20 years. Then, due to a ladder sliding out from under me, I fell and injured my back.
At that point I had to call it quits and retire, although I had not planned on doing that yet.
I’m just not the kind of person that would be content to sit around and let life pass my by in my retirement. I needed to find something to do that would give me satisfaction and start doing it.
After little thought I couldn’t think of anything more important to me than my passion for telling people about the dangers of skin cancer, any cancer, and how my experiences fighting this disease could benefit others.
I realized it wasn’t just about me, but it could be for anyone at some point in their life.
My story, my ongoing experiences and researched information is really all about you.
If you’re reading this, perhaps you or a loved one is greatly concerned about skin cancer.
I’m hoping to make a connection with you here with information and `real people` experiences that I wish I would have been available for me.
I’m sure now that I would have made some decisions different.
I didn’t know what questions to ask my doctor and I didn’t know anybody to talk to who had experienced this type of cancer.
If you don’t find what you are looking for don’t ever hesitate to Contact Me and I’ll do my best to help you or find the information.
If you have skin cancer or any type of cancer and would like to Share Your Experience with others, you may do it here.
Perhaps this site can prevent someone's life from changing the way mine did!
And hopefully, I can help someone to survive as long as I have, which is since 1990 after being told, I have 5 to 10 years, at the most.
