What a pointless app.

I don't see the purpose of this app. The "briefcase" (hello Windows 98 terminology) is broken. If you don't have an internet connection, then the app freaks out like it's about to explode. Seriously, you can't do anything with the app if you don't have a connection. So your dreams of reading scholarly articles are dashed. I'll go back to the "old fashioned" way of just downloading from the website and saving to Dropbox. Such a stupid, useless waste of time.

No PDF download

You can search papers (you can do that just as fine without the app though), but the PDF button just takes you to the download page in the browser -- and there you can only view it in the same window; there is no way to save it for later viewing or annotation in another application. Not worth the hassle.

Useless App

It does less than the website. You can't export the PDF out.

Meh...use the website instead

This app is clean and simple, but it needs just a few more simple features to make me prefer it over the SSRN website. It is hugely important that the app be able to share out articles -- many apps have a "Open In..." menu that lets the user send the doc to one of their other PDF apps. If you do nothing else, make sure you do this! The app should also allow the user to send a link to the document via email, Twitter, or Facebook. But if the user has that "Open In..." menu, they can use something like iFiles to email it out. The two panes of the app should be adjustable, with the option to maximize the right side - now the app becomes a useful reader instead of just a preview tool.

Great app! A boon to researchers! Has an easy interface. Would be nice if one can save downloaded papers.
AVFoundation
The AV Foundation framework provides an Objective-C interface for managing and playing audio-visual media in iOS and OS X applications.
CFNetwork
Access network services and handle changes in network configurations. Build on abstractions of network protocols to simplify tasks such as working with BSD sockets, administering HTTP and FTP servers, and managing Bonjour services.
Core Foundation Framework
Core Foundation is a framework that provides fundamental software services useful to application services, application environments, and to applications themselves. Core Foundation also provides abstractions for common data types, facilitates internationalization with Unicode string storage, and offers a suite of utilities such as plug-in support, XML property lists, URL resource access, and preferences.
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
Core Telephony Framework
Use the Core Telephony framework to obtain information about a user’s home cellular service provider—that is, the provider with whom the user has an account. Carriers can use this information to write applications that provide services only for their own subscribers. You can also use this framework to obtain information about current cellular calls.
Foundation Framework
The Foundation framework provides a base layer of functionality for apps and frameworks, including data storage and persistence, text processing, date and time calculations, sorting and filtering, and networking. The classes, protocols, and data types defined by Foundation are used throughout the macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS SDKs.
MessageUI
The Message UI framework provides specialized view controllers for presenting standard composition interfaces for email and SMS (Short Messaging Service) text messages. Use these interfaces to add message delivery capabilities without requiring the user to leave your app.
MobileCoreServices
Use uniform type identifier (UTI) information to create and manipulate data that can be exchanged between your app and other apps and services using MobileCoreServices.
Quartz Core Framework
Allow users to browse, edit, and save images, using slideshows and Core Image filters. The Quartz Composer API supports processing and rendering graphical data and allows developers to create custom patches for the Quartz Composer developer tool. ImageKit provides user interface support for browsing, editing, and saving images, showing slideshows, and browsing and previewing Core Image filters. PDFKit is a technology that allows applications to display and manipulate PDF documents.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
