Sodere.com is a new kind of Ethiopian social news website. It merges social networking with News publishing. It gives its members the power to report and consume news. Members are encouraged to express opinions on current matters using articles, blogs and news.

Sodere.com was started as a blog on October 2010 by Girum Assefa and became a social news site in January 2011.

As of January 6, 2014, Sodere.com has close to 25,500 highly engaged users. There were more than 3.1 million visitors in 2013. Half of our members has invited more than 20 of their friends to read news and become a member of Sodere.com. 40% of our users visit the website twice daily.

Unlike other major news companies which use Facebook to add social features to their website, Sodere has it's own social features integrated in the website. Every member can submit articles, blogs and videos. Members also can post activity, communicate and send messages to each other.

Membership, blog posts, article and videos submission are all moderated and approved by moderators.

As of April 2013 Sodere team has launched SodereTube.com exclusively for videos and had 1.6 million visitors in 2013. Sodere Ethiopian Social Media
