About

The mission of Teachnet.com remains unchanged since its beginning: to connect teachers and give them a voice.
Teachnet was started in 1995 by the husband-wife team of Lee Shiney (graphic designer and writer) and Lajean Shiney (elementary public school teacher.) Lajean Shiney has now taught over 25 years with Wichita, Kansas school district USD 259, and currently teaches third grade at Val Jackson Elementary School. Lee Shiney is now a full-time fine artist who also writes and blogs frequently about his painting and kinetic sculpture processes. He has exhibited widely, and in 2010 concluded a two-year interactive learning exhibition at the Wichita Art Museum. He is a participating artist with Arts Partners, an organization that places artists in schools for programs and residencies, and is on the board of directors of Sing It Out, Inc., a non-profit organization that seeks to educate, inspire, and celebrate heritage and culture in disadvantaged and rural communities through the power of music and the arts.
