The Nashville Graphic serves Nash County's county Seat, Nashville plus surrounding areas such as Spring Hope, Red Oak, Castalia, Momeyer and even some of the more eastern and southern end of the county. The newspaper's content is focused on local news including local government, local schools, the communities and the people who call this rapidly growing area home. Nashville is 43 miles northeast of the state's capital, Raleigh and less than 10 minutes from Rocky Mount. The 120-year old Graphic is a modern newspaper with color photographs in a modular layout. The weekly edition is "the source" of local news and sports for area residents. THE SHOPPERS' EXPRESS The Nashville Graphic also publishes a weekly shopper that is mailed directly to homes and is received by customers each Thursday. This publication includes classified and retail advertising, special sections and circulars from retail and food stores and does not duplicate the newspaper's circulation. ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY Nashville has become one of the fastest-growing markets in Nash County, rated at 5.4% growth out of all of the municipalities in the county, the lowest rated at 0.6. HIGHER EDUCATION Nash County is home to three colleges. Nash Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404- 679-4501) to award the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in General Education, and the Associate in Applied Science degrees. The College now offers 68 degree, diploma, or certificate options, as well as a wide variety of professional development continuing education courses. Shaw University, founded in 1865, is the first historically black college of the South. Shaw is a private, co-educational, liberal arts university affiliated with the Baptist Church. The University awards degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. North Carolina Wesleyan is a four-year coeducational, liberal arts college, with a number of professional programs, founded in 1956. It is related to the United Methodist Church MEDICAL CARE Although close to major medical facilities in Raleigh, Durham and Greenville, Nash County has a full array of medical services. Nash Health Care Systems is located in Rocky Mount and is comprised of four distinct hospitals: Nash General Hospital, Nash Day Hospital, Costal Plain Hospital and the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center. It services Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, Wilson and Johnston counties but draws patients from beyond these areas as well. PUBLIC SCHOOLS Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools serve 17,480 primary and secondary education students from 28 campuses, including four high schools and one alternative high school. Rocky Mount Preparatory School is an independent public school located behind NC Wesleyan College that serves students grades K-12. AIRPORTS Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport located on NC Highway 97 in Rocky Mount and Raleigh-Durham is located in Raliegh, N.C.
