I'm always asked about myself, I am first and foremost a wife and mother. Add The Quilt Ladies and I've become a solo entrepreneur. I have Husband, two great sons and daughter-n-laws and 4 great Grands. We have been on the corporate trial with Husband for the past 33 years, and after a move in 2000, I decided it's my turn. I'm going to publish The Quilt "Ladies". The Quilt Ladies have been sold for just over 10 years, (I started with the first three books) at craft sales and with this site I hope to reach a larger number of Quilters. The look of the Ladies has changed. They are now being printed, folded and staples by someone else. Not at my kitchen table. But, I'm still the owner and publisher. And everything is done with our 100% guarantee that you will be happy with the Ladies. I have a dream……… When things aren’t what they seem, please remember. The Quilt Ladies are “ME” and only me. I understand you see all the books and think I’m a huge company with a receptionist, lunchroom and 20 employee’s. NO…. it’s just me, working 50-60 hours a week to get my dream on its feet. What have you learned from The Quilt Ladies? I've learned that you have to be everything in a company, you know everything. From budget, advertising, web and everything in between. I love the process of things, the idea, the design, the making, and presenting it, the beginning, middle and end. The same things it takes to make a great quilt. The Quilt Ladies are my dream and seeing them become a reality still takes my breath away. (3) For Immediate Release: The Quilt "Ladies" Books Collection - Books One - Twelve By Beth Ann Strub http://www.thequiltladies.com/ Strubbie House Publishing Where The Quilt "Ladies" Live It's easy to listen to a naysayer. What is hard to do is to stop listening, set up a plan and follow it. As a small publisher I hear it all the time, "How can you be a publisher?" You live in Nebraska, you don't have an office, and what do you know about the publishing business?" It still makes me giggle. "It's very easy, a dream, a hope, a PC, a color/laser printer and loads of hard work. Write it, print it, fold it and staple it, I'm a publisher." Taking a dream to reality is hard, and this publisher knows just what she's talking about. The books, The Quilt "Ladies" Collection started as short stories almost eleven years ago. Not until two children where off to college did the books start their journey to be published. On an old printer and using the only computer program she knew (MS Word) the book was printed. The paper was terrible quality, it was too fat to staple and the quilts needed to be in color. The book was reprinted, redone, redone again, and again. Hundreds of sheets of paper, hundreds of hours of work and then. "The five hundredth time you hit the print button and it all comes together, it is mind boggling. You see it before your eyes, your words, and your designs. The realization that you are holding your dream in your hands, it’s something that not many people have the chance to do." The Quilt "Ladies" Collection is an ongoing set of books that follow the lives of five wonderful ladies, they become friends over quilts. Each book follows the story and each book has complete quilt instructions and patterns for the quilts featured. The Quilt "Ladies" Collection has grown to twelve books. A new series has been added, "Little Quilt Ladies" a quilt pattern series. "Still to this day, as the copies come out of the printer I smile, you see I'm holding my dream. Even over the past year as The Quilt Ladies moved to a "real" Printer, "I have the same feeling, my dream has become a reality." The most important piece of advice this publisher always gives, "Do your homework." Read everything you can get your hands on, take classes, listen, ask questions and know your product inside and out. "But there comes a time when you just have to dive in, on your next birthday you'll be a year older, why not a year older and living your dream?" A little publisher, who could, did.
