接入平台的设备通过内置的定位模块获取设备所在位置，通过移动网络发送给星途通定位服务平台，平台存储设备的定位数据，用户使用APP查看自己建立绑定关系的定位设备的位置，通过内置地图软件服务商的服务将设备位置展示在地图界面上。用户可以通过APP获取一段时间内的连续位置数据，在地图上展示定位设备的移动轨迹。用户可以将自己拥有的设备共享给家人或好友，被共享者可以在APP里看到共享设备的位置和轨迹。用户可以通过APP设定设备的工作参数，发送设备指令给定位设备以获取设备的单独或连续的实时位置。用户可以设置为定位设备设定一个监控区域，一旦定位设备移入或移出该区域时，系统会推送消息给用户以提醒。平台还会推送设备的各种报警信息给APP。
APP还提供用户安全管理功能，用户可以修改自己的口令，设置自己的密码保护问题，通过回答正确的密码保护问题找回自己拥有的定位设备。
