The Times is a new venture in local news and launched in August, 2012. Our sister site, The Unionville Times, (www.unionvilletimes.com) which launched in Oct., 2010 is already the fastest growing news source in Chester County and no. 1 in southern Chester County among local news sites in traffic, according to Alexa.com. Other sister sites include The Kennett Times (www.kennetttimes.com), The Coatesville Times (coatesvilletimes.com) and The Downingtown Times (downingtowntimes.com).
The sites are owned and operated by Times Community News Group, a division of Chester County-based Brandywine New Media. TCNG plans to launch more sites throughout Chester County, with more local news sites coming in 2012.
Locally owned and operated, it is a digital throwback to the era where the local newspaper was owned and managed by those in the community. There is no print edition as yet — and there may never be. The costs of distribution and printing are increasingly strangling traditional print media. As we evolve we will look at other options for distribution, including an iPad application and downloadable PDFs.
