About Hey Y’all, I’m Christen. I’m a hugger and a jump up and down with the excited cheerleader clap kind of girl. I’m also a questioner, a doubter, and get anxious about my messy house. I love taking pictures but do the goofy laugh when someone turns the camera on me. I’ve got an extroverted soul in an introverted body. I once hoped for the perfect life but Jesus has gently taught me that only He is perfect and He loves me for me. So, I’m beginning to learn that too. Here at illuminate, you’ll find a light for your path. This space is a declaration of the uncontainable truth; how this truth covers our need to control and how Jesus, the Light of this world, shines in the darkness. God’s word is illuminating and I like to share how it brightens, reveals, and is made clear here in this space for truth-seekers just like me. You will find me blogging about what I love most: my family. It was my high school sweetheart turned architect husband, Raleigh, that convinced me to start blogging in the first place. I had no clue what a blog was nor was I brave enough to tell my mom for the first three months that I was writing to people on the Internet. The blog has taught me how to be brave and what it means to be authentic in faith and in life. When our twin girls Adeline and Maralee were born three months premature, this space captured our raw emotions and roller coaster ride of faith, hope, and perseverance. Life as a mom and wife is ever-changing, exciting, and exhausting. You’ll find me sharing about Adeline’s latest use of my mascara, Maralee’s crush on Diego, and my husband’s inner nerdiness. I also like to talk about moving back to our hometown in Alabama, sewing and cooking, and things I wish I could buy on Pinterest. I find God in the midst of mommy meltdowns, chocolate chip cookies, and driving my Swagger wagon. The hostess in me wants you to leave this space feeling happy and full. It still amazes me that you came to the party and I wish I could give you a major wrap-around hug and a Southern thank you before we part ways.
