    Hi there and welcome to my blog. My name is Sheryl Thompson and I am a mother, grandmother, artist and avid crafter, and homemaker. I also love to cook and garden. For years my sister has been asking me to write down all my memories of our childhood growing up on our grandparents farm in Hudson, New Hampshire during the 1940’s and 50’s, to pass on to our children and grandchildren. And my husband, Bill, and friends keep telling me that I should write about our adventures since we have moved here to Maine over twenty years ago for our retirement. Friends are always asking me for recipes and gardening tips. And I always have people that write to me for crafting and painting advice. This blog is created to share all these things with others. Bill and I live on a small “farmette” in a tiny town called Sherman, Maine. Sherman is in the heart of logging and potato country, about 90 miles north of Bangor. Small (population of 450) and remote but incredibly beautiful , Sherman has picturesque views of Mount Katahdin, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, about 20 miles to our west. Our little “piece of heaven” has an incredible view of the mountain and all the rest of Baxter State Park from our front porch. In fact, that’s the view you see at the top of each of the pages of this blog. We live on 60 acres of rugged but beautiful woods and fields with our dog, Spirit, and our two cats Chucky and CJ, and a couple of dozen Buff Orpington chickens. And we have lots of other critters here to….moose, deer, bobcats, lynx, and bear wander through our yard and bald eagles and hawks are always soaring overhead hoping for a chicken dinner! Both Bill and I grew up in southern New Hampshire, he in a town called Hampstead, and I in Hudson. Both of us have always lived in New England, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. The climate, the beauty, the oceans, the mountains, the seacoast (and yummy seafood!), fall foliage….to me New England is the perfect place for me. There is so much to tell you about and I can’t wait to get started. So welcome to my world…past and present.
