Words matter. They do to us, anyway. In 2011, a group of young men from London grew tired of the same story being regurgitated across the mainstream media. That group of men founded These Football Times and still operate the site today.

The aim has never changed: deliver engrossing, historical features alongside current affairs reports that challenge the norm. Reading shouldn’t be boring – it should inspire and motivate. It should educate and enhance. That’s the aim we share with each and every one of our numerous contributors. They care about the words they put onto the page, and we care about them.

From our inception in 2011, the site has grown exponentially and is a part of the Guardian Sport Network. These Football Times also boasts a quarterly magazine, White Lines. Issue 2, recently released, contains 144 pages of intoxicating writing from some of the best freelancers around. We’re proud of our growth, but we won’t stop now. We have incorporated coaching and the Icelandic game heavily into the site. There’s more up our sleeve, still.
