- Key DifferentiatorI’m a wife, mother and newly appointed grandmother! Since entering ‘midlife’, I have changed my focus from wanting ‘things’ to wanting ‘experiences’ and living simply. About MidlifeMomMusings I started this blog over 7 years ago with the intention of documenting my journey out of debt. As a self appointed CFO of our family, I decided it was time to get rid of the credit card debt, car loan debt, and home equity debt once and for all. Once I decided to get serious about getting out of debt, a miracle happened. My husband received a bonus equal to the amount of debt we had. Coincidence? I don’t think so. I believe when you make the decision to handle your money responsibly, blessings are bestowed upon you. After the debt was paid off, I was obsessed with money for a while..so much so that I wasn’t enjoying my life anymore. I felt guilty for spending money on fun outings and vacations. I became so paranoid, it affected my whole family. How could I balance living with spending? In 2010 I embarked on a journey to try to live consciously and with purpose by making an effort to find more joy in my life, without spending big bucks to do it. I started in October, 2010. The beginning of My Year of Spending Less and Living More started here. AND, the results can be found here. I’ve found that happiness and contentment cannot always be found in my wallet or bank accounts. My greatest joy comes from the love of my family and friends. Although, money is not the driving force, it does play a role in the level of comfort I have to enjoy my life with family and friends. Thus, balance is the key. This blog is my continued journey to finding that perfect balance in my spending and living, both now and in the future.
