- Key DifferentiatorHi there! I’m Marly. Welcome to my site, Namely Marly. I grew up in a very small town in Missouri and have ended up…well, not too far geographically, but miles away metaphorically speaking. I’m the mother of one very adorable teenager, Adee, and the wife of one very wonderful man, Shawn. We all share our home in Kansas City with two quirky, but hilarious dogs, Coco and Jack. I like to refer to myself as a life-aholic! That’s why this site is about life, namely Marly’s life, your life, a dog’s life, or whatever life comes to mind. (There’s so much of it around!) I like to share humorous observations of my journey (I have a lot of those to choose from) and hopefully hear some of yours as well. Our family is vegan. We frequently hear people say – what do you eat? They must think we eat mostly nuts and twigs (those are not so tasty), so I love sharing my favorite vegan recipes just so you know being vegan is really a delicious way to live. Taste buds are such interesting ways to experience life. I grew up my whole life hating tomatoes and then one day, presto, it was gone. I kinda dig really good (as in farmer’s market) sliced tomatoes on my salad. I thought my mom was gonna flip her wig when I ate one in front of her after all of those years where I would turn my nose at a salad where she had picked off the chunks and left on the tomato goo. (I’m still not a huge fan of the goo). So I like to explore different tastes – some things I’ve grown up eating (and am now veganizing) and some things that are on the whole, organic side of the spectrum. It’s good to mix things up a little. Currently I shoot with a Nikon D300 (a beloved hand-me-down from my hubby). And when I can pry it out of his camera bag (which is most of the time), my favorite lens is a 105 mm f 2.8. Although I have a handy dandy 35 mm f 1.8 when that one’s not available.
