COMMENTARY is America’s premier monthly magazine of opinion and a pivotal voice in American intellectual life. Since its inception in 1945, and increasingly after it emerged as the flagship of neoconservatism in the 1970’s, the magazine has been consistently engaged with several large, interrelated questions: the fate of democracy and of democratic ideas in a world threatened by totalitarian ideologies; the state of American and Western security; the future of the Jews, Judaism, and Jewish culture in Israel, the United States, and around the world; and the preservation of high culture in an age of political correctness and the collapse of critical standards.

Many of COMMENTARY’s articles have been controversial, and more than a few have been hugely influential, touchstones for debate and discussion in universities, among policy analysts in and out of government, within the ranks of professionals and community activists of all kinds, and in circles of serious thought worldwide. I'd love to rate this App highly...

But I can't, simply because there's no unpinch-to-enlarge feature. Commentary's articles are usually well written, interesting and long, but how this tiny font can be read by anyone for a long period is beyond me. So an otherwise highly desirable App will largely go unused.

App works OK but no Desktop connection

I like Commentary magazine. I moved my subscription to my iPad/App Store with automatic renewal. After my subscription renewed, I lost access to Commentary online with archive and single article downloads. About the app: 1. It works OK if all you want is to read/keep the current issue or those for which you've previously paid. 2. On a seemingly random basis all the issues get deleted and you have to reload them. 3. Reloading is a long and laborious process. 4. As mentioned, there is no way to save single articles for later access.

Have had to remove and re-download app every time I try to read issue. Unless resolved, I will cancel subscription.

I almost made the same mistake. The app's convenient and good looking, but I wish there were a way to change type sizes, mark up the text, and forward an occasional article.

No offline reading

Even though stated in the app description, the application doesn't allow offline reading. If this is due to a bug, please fix the app. Otherwise correct the false and misleading description! Unfortunately, a magazine I can not read offline is useless to me.

Buy the app via the Commentary website

I love Commentary magazine, and the ipad app has a great display format. However, I discovered a problem when I went to the website to print an article that I wanted to mark up with a highlighter. The website doesn't recognize iTunes app users. I phoned the help line. I was told that you must buy the ipad app via the magazine's website in order to have access to their website edition. Bummer! They suggested that I cancel the iTunes purchase and repurchase the app via their site.
