About

We are the newest newspaper publisher in New Mexico. We will be featuring the people, art, and culture of New Mexico. Since other publications already do this, we certainly will not be another one. Our primary mission is to explain issues and conditions that affect the people of New Mexico and especially uncovering what the state’s other media choose to overlook. Explaining why you should care. Explaining the who, what, when, where, and why– so that you can be informed to make your own decision.

  • Key Differentiator
We publish a website and bi-weekly newspaper, and we partner with other public media and civic groups on reporting and convening public events. We offer our readers substantive coverage on education inequality, public health, affordable housing, climate change, homelessness, public safety, labor standards and other critical and timely local concerns. HOW do we report the news? We operate a network of experienced freelance reporters producing data-rich stories that our readers can use to affect change in each of their communities. We frequently collaborate with other nonprofit organizations in our journalism and public programs. We publish news from all counties in New Mexico to give readers a clear picture of the news in New Mexico. We provide a unique publishing node in a network of local public-media ventures by using our print and digital distribution to spotlight reporting from nonprofit news outlets and civic partners statewide. What we are NOT Let us be clear—we are not an ‘alternative’ or ‘tabloid’ weekly newspaper offering readers nothing more than local entertainment, political gossip, opinion, and events calendars. There are plenty of publications like this already and we will certainly not be another. We are a newspaper of general circulation offering readers substantive coverage on critical and timely local concerns.
