The Spectator at Seattle University is a weekly student-run publication available on campus and online.
We here at The Spectator are hopeful that the newspaper as a form is not dead. As a matter of fact, we know it isn’t. Everyone is telling us that it is dying or dead, but we do not believe them. Or at least, we believe we can prove there is a way to make the newspaper relevant again.
As young students interested in journalism, it is our job to figure out how to deliver the news in way fit for your modern sensibilities. Some say the answer lies in hyperlocal reporting. Some say it’s in investigative long form journalism. Others say it's all a matter of style.
Whatever it is, it’s our job here at The Spectator to find it, and we will try anything and everything we think of to forge ahead. We promise to deliver the Seattle University community the news they deserve, in a format that pushes what it means to be a journalist in these unsure times. Through thoughtful layouts, dynamic reporting and a critical eye, we plunge the depths and bring back what we find so all you Redhawks stay informed.
