The Yass Tribune is steeped in tradition but remains as relevant today as it was in 1857, when it first chronicled the lives of local residents. The Yass Tribune covers local news and human interest stories as well as local sporting events and council news.
The circulation area covers a broad area from Bookham in the South to Gunning in the North. Bowning, Dalton and Boorowa to the West and across to Hall at the ACT border. It includes the villages of Murrumbateman, Hall, Binalong, Gunning, Gundaroo, Sutton and Wee Jasper and the Yass Tribune can also be purchased in Canberra House Civic and in Boorowa and Goulburn.
With a population in excess of 12,000, offers a friendly rural setting ideal for tourists wishing to explore the the Southern Tablelands Canberra Region of NSW. Yass is proud of its rural heritage and is working hard to preserve the history of the town with the redevelopment of the heritage streetscape and preservation of many heritage listed buildings which were built during the middle of the 189th century.
Yass has long been known as the fine wool centre of the world. A growing number of cool climate vineyards carry on the fine winemaking traditions established by our first settlers. Tourism is strong in the area with attractions such as Wee Jasper with its limestone caves, fossil formations and excellent camping and bushwalking spots.
Its proximity to ACT is making a positive impact on the Yass population with the area proving a popular country lifestyle within a commutable distance to the capital.
