Poorly designed app

I just recently (finally) subscribed to Education Week, after admiring it from afar for years. I really like to do my magazine reading on digital devices because I can take many with me at once (plus, then I can share the paper edition with co-workers), but this app is not great. The design is reminiscent of early apps on the first iPhones--no crisp lines, has a very "mobile webpage" feel rather than an actual app, and I can't actually figure out how to log in as a subscriber to the print edition (perhaps not an option, but I can get a digital edition on my computer...?). It looks like EdWeek's digital material is produced by Nxtbook--and their own app is pretty similar to this one in its aesthetics and design. More than not being impressed, I'm actually disappointed. Would love to see EdWeek on Zinio or to at least have a digital edition that looks like a modern eMagazine, rather than whatever this is.

Bad App

Every time I try to open the app, it crashes. I now have issues I can't open.

Intermittently Buggy 🐜🐞🕷 Doesn't come with Online Access🔒

Doesn't recognize subscription. Want's me to buy the most-recent issue. 🤑🤑🤑🤑 ——————————————————— Doesn't come with online access 🔒. Subscribing through App Store gets you registered to receive emails pointing to interesting articles on website. You can only however view a limited number per month without buying an additional web-access subscription. Announced in teaser emails are not always easy to find in the print-like version in the iPhone ap. The application is sometimes buggy 🐜🐞🕷. After the recent iOS update, the application crashes when you open an edition to read it. 😝😝😝🤒 The application reverifies your subscription every time you launch it. This can delay access for up to a couple of minutes, especially if you're trying to access over a poor connection.

Ed Week please find an app designer pronto

Very poor quality app. It's outdated and the typography is jarringly hideous. Disappointed subscriber.

Makes me want to cancel my subscription

I first started reading education week in 2012 and loved the magazine. Of course, I immediately looked for an app so that I could read when I had spare time and get new news daily. I was a little surprised to find that there wasn't one in an era where even magazines no one has ever heard of have robust apps. I figured it would only be a matter of time until there was one...but the months ticked by and nothing. In early 2013 I cancelled my subscription for a while because I didn't have time to read it. I just recently recently resubscribed and have been very excited to try out the new app...only to find that it's horrible. I read the few review on here and thought that perhaps these older reviews were wrong about the current version of the app...but it's exactly the same as it was years ago. The app is glitchy and barely launches. When it does, you are asked to purchase each issue and cannot log in with your subscription. It defies belief that the nation's "leading education" news magazine doesn't have a functional app. It's even harder to believe that what they do have is so embarrassingly frustrating for paying subscribers. It honestly makes me question what kind of company I'm doing business with and whether I should be paying for a product that the company obviously cares so little about.
