Description:

Are you faster or more attentive than other people? Can you remember more or make better choices? Time to test your brain and find out!

Be part of a unique scientific experiment by playing games on your phone. Neuroscientists at University College London have 'gamified' their research, creating a quirky, fun app which turns neuroscience experiments into games. Each time you play you'll be contributing data to a huge scientific experiment, taking part in research that could previously only be conducted on small groups of volunteers in the lab. The Great Brain Experiment will look at memory, impulsivity, how we take risks, and how well the mind’s eye can see. It will allow the researchers to explore questions that are normally impossible to ask.

Dr Rick Adams, from the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, says: “We wanted something that shows people what neuroscience is really about. It’s not all brains in jars or men in white coats. It’s actually trying to answer questions all of us are interested in, like ‘What makes me happy?’. We hope that people enjoy our app, tell their friends and help us answer some important scientific questions along the way.”
The free app has been developed for Brain Awareness Week 2013 (11-17th March 2013) and is being supported by the Wellcome Trust.

Best brain application

I really enjoyed this game! It is like a better version of all the other brain apps. If only more people knew about this application... I enjoyed their music, the design, and it reminded me a lot of brain age. It has plenty of games, no annoying adds, and it's free. I just hope they keep working on it, and adding more games, because it's a lot of fun. The only thing they possibly could improve is different game types, because a lot of their games focus on feelings, and your brain in different situations. I don't normally write reviews this long, but this game stuck out to me as one of the only free brain apps, that are actually fun, and I support that.

Great, fun... But what about me?

This app is so much fun. The mini-games will keep you entertained during those lazy hours of the day ( better than spending time on candy crush ) and at the same time one is helping on this huge project on the human mind. I only wish I could have some feedback, what do the scores mean for a person my age? Is it normal? Should I be concerned? I hope the app becomes a success and they continue to improve the interface and the games. Good luck!

Very interesting and fun, though not perfect.

I would have loved some indication of the games' length so I'd know if I could finish them.

Pathetic

Tells you to do stuff and then says you have done it wrong or doesn't explain it well at all. One game told you to hit some fruit when it was in the circle and when you did it it said it was wrong because you hit it when it was in the circle! I mean COME ON!!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡 I got so fed up I deleted it. I don't see how they can get proper info out of something when it tells you to do it wrong!😡❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓

Who did this?

It's a good idea and I was looking forward to entering this research but the games are not upfront, so it takes quite a while to get the gist by witch time I wasn't motivated to continue as they weren't very good and it seems to me that data collected be wrong anyway under these conditions
AVFoundation
The AV Foundation framework provides an Objective-C interface for managing and playing audio-visual media in iOS and OS X applications.
Core Foundation Framework
Core Foundation is a framework that provides fundamental software services useful to application services, application environments, and to applications themselves. Core Foundation also provides abstractions for common data types, facilitates internationalization with Unicode string storage, and offers a suite of utilities such as plug-in support, XML property lists, URL resource access, and preferences.
Core Graphics
The Core Graphics framework is based on the Quartz advanced drawing engine. It provides low-level, lightweight 2D rendering with unmatched output fidelity. You use this framework to handle path-based drawing, transformations, color management, offscreen rendering, patterns, gradients and shadings, image data management, image creation, and image masking, as well as PDF document creation, display, and parsing.
Core Location Framework
The Core Location framework lets you determine the current location or heading associated with a device. The framework uses the available hardware to determine the user’s position and heading. You use the classes and protocols in this framework to configure and schedule the delivery of location and heading events. You can also use it to define geographic regions and monitor when the user crosses the boundaries of those regions. In iOS, you can also define a region around a Bluetooth beacon.
Foundation Framework
The Foundation framework provides a base layer of functionality for apps and frameworks, including data storage and persistence, text processing, date and time calculations, sorting and filtering, and networking. The classes, protocols, and data types defined by Foundation are used throughout the macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS SDKs.
Launch Services
macOS Launch Services is an API that enables a running app to open other apps or their document files, similar to the Finder or the Dock.Launch Services eliminates apps having to query the Finder to open an app, document, or URL for them. The macOS Finder itself uses Launch Services to perform such tasks. Because the Finder performs no additional processing beyond calling Launch Services, any client using Launch Services for these purposes behaves identically to the Finder.
MobileCoreServices
Use uniform type identifier (UTI) information to create and manipulate data that can be exchanged between your app and other apps and services using MobileCoreServices.
Quartz Core Framework
Allow users to browse, edit, and save images, using slideshows and Core Image filters. The Quartz Composer API supports processing and rendering graphical data and allows developers to create custom patches for the Quartz Composer developer tool. ImageKit provides user interface support for browsing, editing, and saving images, showing slideshows, and browsing and previewing Core Image filters. PDFKit is a technology that allows applications to display and manipulate PDF documents.
System Configuration F...
This collection of documents describes the programming interfaces of the System Configuration framework. The System Configuration framework provides functions that determine the reachability of target hosts in both a synchronous and an asynchronous manner. It also provides error detection facilities.
UIKit
The UIKit framework (UIKit.framework) provides the crucial infrastructure needed to construct and manage iOS apps. This framework provides the window and view architecture needed to manage an app’s user interface, the event handling infrastructure needed to respond to user input, and the app model needed to drive the main run loop and interact with the system.
